30-min walk with a whole different mindset

I asked the Lord this year to grow more love, more faith and more humility among several other things. So, one of the things I'm using toward that goal of constant growing is writing and reflecting upon other writings like the resolutions of Jonathan Edwards, younger than me when he wrote them.

If anything, I could share a few things and attitudes changing in me.

A few months ago, I used to do a a 30-min walk around the neighborhood. Not very consistently by the way. So, I gave up after a couple of weeks more or less. Reason? I grew tired of that. The thing that kept me going one day wasn't there any longer. My motives (the Lord knows) for exercising were out of place.

Yesterday, I resumed walking with a different mindset. God used JE to get me to this point.

See. If your purpose in life is to live out for God, why not exercise then? If exercising your body a bit a few days a week, could keep you a bit healthier, why not give it a try? You know, nobody wants to get sick. But instead of exercising to "stay healthy", why not add some purposeful words to that: to "stay healthy that I may be more effective in my calling".

Now, that is a whole different mindset: for the glory of God, for your own good and for the general good of mankind.

Tomorrow, I'll resume blogging on JE's resolutions. Anything you'd like to share? Feel free to post a comment!

I absolutely agree! We are spirit, soul and body and I know I'm good at balancing one or two. I have to be motivated by my calling and desire to please God to keep all three areas strong and balanced. I read a health article recently that said many of our problems stem from a lack of physical conditioning. So, for my spirit and soul to function at an optimum level, I need to be in good physical shape. And my desire to serve the purpose of God in my generation is what motivates me to do that. Good blog.
